The Ambulatory Services Representative II is the front-line contact for patients seeking care at Boston Medical Center. You'll manage the patient journey from first contact through appointment, ensuring every interaction reflects our dedication to excellent service. This role combines customer service excellence with accuracy in administrative functions, making you essential to our ambulatory care operations.
What You'll Do
- Provide courteous, efficient customer service to patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Register new and established patients, maintaining accurate demographic and clinical information
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility, explaining patient financial responsibilities clearly
- Schedule appointments across multiple departments, optimizing provider availability and patient convenience
- Process charge entries and billing-related administrative tasks to support revenue cycle operations
- Assist with managed care coordination and prior authorization support as needed
- Perform general administrative duties including data entry, file management, and departmental support
- Respond professionally to patient inquiries and troubleshoot appointment or access issues
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in patient services, healthcare registration, customer service, or related administrative roles
- Strong communication skills, with ability to explain complex information clearly to diverse patients
- Proficiency with computers and ability to learn healthcare software systems quickly
