Boston Medical Center seeks new graduate nurses for its comprehensive Medical-Surgical nursing residency program in Brighton, Massachusetts. This full-time position offers 36 hours per week across multiple shifts, providing the structured mentorship and clinical support you need to confidently transition from student nurse to practicing RN.
About This Position
Join a cohort of newly licensed nurses progressing together through an integrated residency curriculum based on the Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies. You'll receive individualized preceptor-guided education and clinical supervision tailored to your learning pace and unit requirements, allowing you to build confidence and clinical competence safely while gradually assuming greater responsibility. This program is designed to accelerate your development as a medical-surgical nurse and establish strong clinical foundations during your critical first year of practice.
Core Duties
- Deliver direct patient care to medical-surgical populations, including assessment, monitoring, and clinical documentation
- Administer medications and therapeutic treatments under preceptor guidance
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to plan and implement individualized patient care
- Monitor and communicate patient progress and clinical findings to nursing and medical leadership
- Perform patient comfort and safety measures appropriate to medical-surgical nursing
- Participate in residency didactic sessions, skills training, and competency evaluations
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Current Massachusetts RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Strong clinical reasoning and patient advocacy skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, nights, and weekends as assigned
