About This Position

As People Manager, MEP Design at Dlb-associates, you will hold a full-time remote appointment focused on both team leadership and technical direction within the United States. The position centers on developing people, strengthening design quality, and coordinating multi-discipline delivery so every project advances smoothly. You will serve as the primary people leader for MEP design staff while remaining closely engaged with design standards, schedules, and collaborative workflows that define successful remote project execution.

What You'll Do

  • Directly manage, mentor, and evaluate MEP design team members, including workload distribution and career-path conversations
  • Review and guide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design packages to maintain technical accuracy and code compliance
  • Plan resources, set priorities, and balance assignments so projects stay on schedule and staff remain productively engaged
  • Partner with architecture, structural, and other engineering groups to resolve coordination issues early and efficiently
  • Champion process improvements, remote collaboration habits, and consistent use of design standards and tools
  • Support client and stakeholder communications when project milestones or design decisions require clear leadership input
  • Model accountability and a constructive feedback culture that helps remote team members perform at their best

Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated people-management experience leading design or engineering professionals in an MEP environment
  • Solid working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems design and delivery practices
  • Comfort with common BIM and drafting platforms such as Revit or AutoCAD and related file-sharing workflows
  • Familiarity with U.S. building codes, energy standards, and industry guidelines that govern MEP design
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills suited to coaching, remote facilitation, and cross-team coordination
  • Proven ability to set expectations, manage performance, and resolve interpersonal or workload challenges constructively
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction-related fields, or equivalent practical experience that prepares a candidate for this leadership level
