Engineering Manager II – Test Engineering

Wabtec is hiring an Engineering Manager II – Test Engineering at our Buffalo Grove, IL location. This full-time position leads test engineering strategy, quality assurance, and team development in a collaborative, innovative environment.

Role Overview

As Engineering Manager II – Test Engineering at Wabtec in Buffalo Grove, you'll direct test engineering initiatives and drive quality across our product portfolio. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in test automation, process improvement, and team development. You'll report directly to senior leadership and have the opportunity to shape testing culture and excellence within the organization.

What You'll Do

• Lead and mentor a test engineering team, fostering professional growth and delivering measurable results
• Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies that align with product development cycles and quality objectives
• Design and implement test automation frameworks and infrastructure to improve efficiency and coverage
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to define quality requirements and acceptance criteria
• Identify process bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing velocity and reliability
• Establish quality metrics, reporting dashboards, and KPIs to track test effectiveness and product readiness
• Champion best practices in test engineering, automation tooling, and quality assurance methodologies

Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in test engineering, quality assurance, or related disciplines
• 2+ years of demonstrated leadership or management experience
• Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks, tools, and methodologies
• Experience defining and implementing test strategies across hardware, software, or embedded systems
• Proficiency in modern testing practices, CI/CD pipelines, and quality metrics
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality results
