Secure Manufacturing & Stealth Investigator

OpenAI is recruiting a Full Time remote Secure Manufacturing & Stealth Investigator to build and lead investigative operations protecting our most sensitive product development, hardware initiatives, and manufacturing programs from security threats. You'll conduct sophisticated investigations spanning supply chain integrity, insider risk, and adversarial collection threats across a specialized, high-sensitivity environment.

Role Overview

Our Security organization safeguards proprietary innovations, restricted research, and sensitive hardware through technical expertise and operational discipline. In this position, you'll establish and execute investigative capabilities uniquely designed for secure manufacturing environments and unreleased product initiatives—where confidentiality, integrity, and controlled access are critical to competitive advantage and organizational security. You'll investigate complex threats targeting a specialized risk surface that encompasses insider activity, supplier vulnerabilities, counterfeiting, theft, tampering, and state-level collection attempts.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end investigations into security incidents including unauthorized access, product leakage, supplier misconduct, vendor compromise, and adversarial intelligence collection targeting secure programs.
• Connect evidence from multiple domains—physical access logs, device telemetry, supply chain records, procurement data, manufacturing workflows, employee collaboration systems, communications analysis, and open-source intelligence—into clear findings and mitigation strategies.
• Execute proactive threat-hunting and investigative activities to identify early indicators of compromise, theft, or unauthorized collection affecting sensitive initiatives.
• Design investigative procedures, evidence handling standards, escalation protocols, and reporting frameworks tailored to manufacturing security and stealth program environments.
• Partner across Legal, Engineering, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Procurement, Physical Security, Cybersecurity, and external stakeholders to execute findings and reduce organizational risk.

Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years leading investigations in corporate security operations, insider threat, supply chain security, counterintelligence, manufacturing security, or closely related fields.
• Demonstrated experience supporting sensitive program environments, secure manufacturing operations, hardware development, research facilities, classified or access-restricted initiatives, or high-value intellectual property protection.
• Proven capability to independently lead complex investigations spanning cyber, physical, operational, and human domains with minimal supervision.
• Strong working knowledge of insider threat patterns, supply chain risk management, third-party vendor risk, and adversarial collection methodologies.
• Demonstrated skill in analyzing disparate sources of evidence: physical access systems, facility logs, device telemetry, network data, collaboration platforms, procurement documentation, shipping records, manufacturing workflows, vendor communications, and open-source intelligence.
• Exceptional cross-functional partnership and communication with legal, technical, operational, and business leadership.
