OpenAI is hiring a Director of Product Finance, Compute & Infrastructure Demand in San Francisco, California. Join our Strategic Finance team to drive financial strategy and resource allocation for one of the world's most impactful technology platforms.
About the Role
You will lead financial planning, analysis, and decision-making for OpenAI's compute and infrastructure demand initiatives. This director-level position sits within Strategic Finance and partners directly with Product, Engineering, Partnerships, and Go-to-Market teams to ensure resources flow to the highest-impact opportunities while maintaining sustainable and scalable unit economics. You'll provide the financial insight that guides OpenAI's long-term strategy and growth.
What You'll Do
- Build and own financial models for compute and infrastructure demand forecasting, capacity planning, and resource optimization
- Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to evaluate investment opportunities and prioritize spending against strategic goals
- Develop pricing strategies, go-to-market financial frameworks, and partnership economics that align revenue generation with operational sustainability
- Analyze unit economics and profitability metrics across compute and infrastructure offerings, identifying levers for improvement
- Present financial insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership, helping shape company-wide decisions
- Build and lead financial planning processes that support rapid scaling while managing risk
What We're Looking For
- Director-level experience in product finance, strategic finance, or financial planning and analysis—ideally in infrastructure, cloud services, or technology
- Proven ability to build financial models, conduct complex analyses, and communicate findings to executive audiences
- Strong understanding of unit economics, pricing models, and Go-to-Market financial frameworks
- Experience partnering across technical and business functions to influence strategic decisions
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills with comfort in a fast-moving, ambitious environment
