Senior Engineer, Payout Network

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is transforming cross-border payments and financial services. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Engineer to join their Payout Network team in London, working on critical backend integration systems that power international money movement.

This is a backend-focused role where you'll build and scale third-party payment integration infrastructure. You'll work across product, operations, and customer-facing teams to design reliable, performant, and secure platform systems. As part of a global engineering team, you'll have significant impact on technical architecture and team culture.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain unified interfaces encapsulating multiple third-party payment integrations
• Take ownership of backend system architecture and implementation for core revenue systems
• Design performant and resilient data flows with security as a priority
• Collaborate closely with product teams to regularly ship working features
• Work iteratively to evaluate and deliver on timeline estimates
• Manage complex integrations with third-party APIs at scale

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 7+ years of professional experience building backend systems
• Strong proficiency with Kotlin or Java/JVM
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL
• Experience with AWS services: S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda, etc.
• Proven experience implementing and managing elaborate third-party API integrations
• Track record working on systems with real-world performance and reliability constraints
• Experience developing software in collaborative, multi-functional, fast-paced environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities with stakeholders

Preferred:

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies like Terraform and Ansible
• SRE or similar infrastructure work background
• Data Engineering concepts and workflows experience
• High personal development standards (code review, unit testing, documentation)

Tech Stack Context: The platform uses React Native and TypeScript on the frontend, Kotlin backend, PostgreSQL database, running on AWS and managed via Terraform and Ansible.
