Cloud Platform Engineer (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential German technology organization building a sovereign cloud platform for critical infrastructure clients. Our talent team is searching for a Cloud Platform Engineer to join this technical project in Hannover.

This is not an operations role maintaining someone else's infrastructure. You will architect and build a multi-tenant Kubernetes platform hosted in German data centers, serving clients in insurance and public sector with the highest requirements for availability and information security.

Responsibilities

• Design and build self-hosted cloud infrastructure using Kubernetes multi-cluster architecture with full stack control
• Architect highly available clusters including networking, storage, load balancing, and authentication components
• Develop and evolve tenant isolation concepts ensuring secure customer environments throughout their lifecycle
• Collaborate with development teams on performance and availability requirements for cluster and tenant architecture
• Implement distributed in-memory approaches across nodes to ensure real-time application capability
• Build GitOps workflows for fully automated deployment from initial provisioning through day-2 operations
• Create Infrastructure as Code using tools like Ansible or Terraform; implement Policy as Code for security and governance
• Establish CI/CD integration and standardize deployment processes
• Enable platform self-service capabilities for internal teams, define standards, and support onboarding
• Support development teams migrating workloads to the cloud platform
• Process operational insights from monitoring and incidents to continuously improve stability, security, and performance

What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

• Several years of experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, container technologies, or infrastructure automation
• Strong Kubernetes knowledge, ideally from operating production multi-cluster environments
• Experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD or Fleet preferred) and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, or similar)
• Negotiation-level German (minimum C1) and very good English, both written and spoken
• Willingness to travel for client meetings and visits to other office locations

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with enterprise Kubernetes management platforms or comparable solutions
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, Policy as Code, or high-availability concepts
• Familiarity with monitoring stacks such as Prometheus or Grafana
