We are representing a confidential global media and marketing organization seeking a Director Data Strategy for Germany. This is a senior leadership role for someone ready to shape end-to-end data strategy for major clients, lead a talented team of data strategists, and drive commercial growth through first-party data, AI-driven planning, and audience-first approaches.
Responsibilities
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team of data strategists across multiple German markets
- Own end-to-end data strategy for focus clients, translating data potential into measurable business outcomes (growth, efficiency, effectiveness)
- Design and execute modern advertising technology roadmaps including data clean rooms, CDPs, DSPs, and AI-powered audience products
- Serve as strategic advisor to marketing, media, data, and commerce decision-makers at client organizations
- Develop audience-first strategies across first-party, second-party, and third-party data ecosystems
- Build market-ready playbooks and standards for audience strategies, governance, and decision frameworks
- Facilitate strategy workshops to strengthen data literacy and cross-team collaboration
- Drive new business development in data strategy, ensure commercial viability, and identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities
- Position the organization as a thought leader through executive briefings, case studies, and points of view
- Champion inclusive leadership, diversity, and a culture of accountability and collaboration
- Coordinate with analytics, data science, technology consulting, and product enablement teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Influence global product roadmaps by bringing market requirements into the conversation
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in data-driven marketing, media, consulting, or AdTech/MarTech
- At least 2–3 years of proven disciplinary and functional leadership experience developing teams
- Deep understanding of data infrastructures, data clean rooms (e.g., InfoSum), CDPs, DSPs, tagging, analytics, and AI/ML concepts in marketing
- Hands-on expertise applying first-party, second-party, and third-party data in collaboration and activation scenarios
- Strong knowledge of measurement, incrementality frameworks, and agile project and change management
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a clear vision for your area of influence and excellent client and colleague standing
- Collaborative matrix networker comfortable engaging across all hierarchy levels with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to explain complex topics simply and build trust with client and agency counterparts
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree is a plus
- Fluency in German and English
