Product Engineer Procurement

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential logistics technology company expanding their commercial operations in Hamburg. This is a unique builder role combining procurement ownership, process optimization, and product thinking. You'll work directly with executive leadership to transform how the organization sources inventory at scale.

This is not a traditional procurement position. You will own the function end-to-end—running day-to-day operations while simultaneously building the processes, automations, and systems that allow it to scale without proportional headcount growth.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute daily procurement operations and tactical seller relationship management, learning from hands-on work to identify improvement opportunities
• Improve buying economics and supplier performance through pricing negotiations, promotion strategies, and quality improvements across listing accuracy, response times, and reliability
• Use AI tools including Claude as part of daily workflows to solve problems faster and enhance existing processes
• Build lightweight prototypes and automation solutions independently when they address immediate business needs—from deterministic workflows to agentic approaches
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams when solutions require greater robustness, scalability, or integration into core systems
• Develop systematic, data-driven views of procurement performance to identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities across the supplier portfolio
• Drive strategic initiatives that fundamentally improve sourcing capabilities and trading economics
