Senior Edge Infrastructure Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential manufacturing technology organization in their search for a Senior Edge Infrastructure Engineer based in Berlin. This is a senior individual-contributor role focused on owning provisioning and operations for a distributed fleet of Linux-based edge devices, cameras, and sensors deployed across industrial environments.

You'll replace manual processes with automated PXE-based deployment and configuration management, ensuring that installation teams have deployment-ready systems and maintaining strong fleet health at scale. This role offers direct ownership of the automated infrastructure backbone supporting hundreds of edge devices running in live production facilities.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop PXE-based provisioning pipelines for Linux edge devices
• Automate configuration, testing, and deployment processes across the device fleet
• Manage the operational lifecycle of deployed systems, including monitoring, patching, and remote diagnostics
• Support installation engineering teams with fully prepared equipment, clear documentation, and remote troubleshooting
• Manage secure network configurations including routing, VPN, and firewalls for distributed customer environments
• Define standards for fleet maintenance, reliability, and automated tooling
• Travel up to 50% to customer sites across Europe

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Significant experience administering and troubleshooting Linux systems
• Hands-on expertise with PXE/network boot and unattended provisioning
• Proficiency in Bash/Python and configuration management or IaC tools
• Solid networking knowledge covering IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, firewalls, and VPNs
• Experience with WireGuard or similar VPN solutions like Tailscale
• Proven experience managing distributed device fleets at scale
• Based in or able to relocate to Berlin
• Willingness to travel up to 50% to customer sites
• Professional English proficiency
• Ability to occasionally lift 30kg+ equipment

Nice to have:

• Experience building agentic or LLM-based workflows for infrastructure and device configuration
• Familiarity with industrial environments, IoT devices, cameras, or fieldbus protocols
• Professional German proficiency
• Valid driver's license for equipment transport and site installations
