AI Product Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a VC-backed AI technology company in the travel sector that is looking for a Product Engineer who leverages AI tools to accelerate development. This is a remote role for candidates based in European or African time zones (±3 hours from CET).

This is not a traditional coding position. You will use Claude Code and similar AI development tools to dramatically increase your output while maintaining a sharp focus on user value. You will own quality end-to-end—there is no separate QA team, so everything you ship must work flawlessly.

Responsibilities

• Own features from specification through deployment and ongoing maintenance
• Use Claude Code to generate backend code in Golang, then review and refine AI output for quality and architectural soundness
• Fix bugs to build deep codebase knowledge, then rapidly ship new features
• Make quick build-vs-buy-vs-generate decisions using AI assistance
• Engage directly with customers when issues arise and ship same-day fixes
• Test your own work thoroughly to ensure production readiness
• Participate in on-call rotation to maintain platform reliability and uptime
• Work within a Golang monorepo backend stack with PaaS-managed containers, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Docker Compose for local development
• Build AI search and recommendation systems, content enrichment APIs, platform integrations, data pipelines, and agentic systems

What We're Looking For

Must have:

• Proven hands-on experience using Claude Code or similar AI coding assistants—please share specific examples
• Strong Golang expertise; you must be able to review and understand AI-generated code
• Ownership mentality with a drive for elegant, simple, high-quality solutions
• Product mindset: you care deeply about why you're building something, not just how
• Commitment to maximum quality—you thoroughly test your own work since there is no QA team
• Passion for simple, secure, observable systems that perform well under load
• Broad architectural knowledge of modern full-stack application development
• Excellent spoken English and reliable internet for daily video calls
• Location in European or African time zones (±3 hours from CET)
• Full-time availability (40 hours per week)

Nice to have:

• Deep expertise in SRE/DevOps, databases, security, data science, or travel technology systems
• Interest in client-facing work, coordination, or product planning

You're a great fit if you:

• Think in features and architecture, not individual lines of code
• Get frustrated when development cycles take weeks instead of days
• Can quickly spot subtle bugs in AI-generated code
• Ship fast but always verify correctness
• Have shipped real products used by actual customers
• Instinctively ask "how can AI build this?" when approaching new work

This role won't be a match if you:

• Have never used Claude Code or similar AI coding tools
• Are a perfectionist who loves to code for coding's sake
• Need detailed specifications before starting work
• Prefer working within decisions made by architects or technical leads
• View AI as a threat rather than a productivity multiplier
• Are located outside European/African time zones
