About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the open-source security sector who is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their security module engineering team. This role offers the chance to impact the security infrastructure used by millions globally, working on mandatory access control systems that confine programs and restrict access to system resources.

The position is fully remote and open to candidates anywhere in the world. You'll lead a team of engineers focused on developing advanced security features and capabilities, engaging directly with community stakeholders and coordinating cross-functional engineering efforts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of engineers ranging from graduate to senior level
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and career development feedback to team members
• Identify and measure team health indicators to ensure sustainable performance
• Implement and maintain disciplined engineering processes across the team
• Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers from a technical perspective
• Develop and evangelise engineering and organisational best practices
• Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects, ensuring timely delivery
• Collaborate actively with other engineering leaders as part of the security leadership team
• Drive collaboration across multiple engineering teams and projects

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or compelling alternative path narrative
• Track record of exceeding expectations and going above-and-beyond
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Demonstrated love of developing and growing people with proven track record
• Strong organisational skills with ability to ensure team delivers timely, high-quality results
• Professional manner when interacting with colleagues, partners, and community
• Proficiency in C programming and solid understanding of Linux kernel development
• Experience working with Linux Security Modules
• Deep knowledge and passion for software and application security
• Solid experience working in agile development environments
• Demonstrated drive for continual learning
• Ability to build trust, relationships, and confidence across teams
• Result-oriented with personal drive to meet commitments
• Ability to travel twice yearly for company events, up to two weeks each

Valued but optional:

• Good understanding of containers and packaging formats
