Responsibilities

Our client, a leading streaming technology organization, is seeking a Senior Counsel specializing in Employment and Labor matters to provide strategic legal guidance across the UK, EMEA, and global operations. In this role, you will:

• Advise People Business Partners, People Shared Services, Compensation & Benefits, and other partner teams on employment matters including hiring, performance management, grievances, disciplinary actions, investigations, redundancies, reorganizations, and wage and hour compliance
• Provide counsel on agency worker and contractor engagement, reasonable accommodations, flexible work requests, leaves of absence, employee privacy, data security, benefits, TUPE transfers, and works councils
• Support the development and maintenance of a global employment and labor framework, including handbooks, policies, and procedures
• Research and monitor employment legislation and legal developments, proactively implementing compliance and risk-mitigation strategies
• Review and advise on contractual agreements with third-party service providers, vendors, and staffing agencies, as well as internal practices for engaging contingent workers
• Draft and negotiate employment agreements, performance and disciplinary notices, settlement agreements, and other employment-related documentation
• Advise on complex and sensitive employment matters, facilitating pre-dispute resolution and positioning the organization for potential employment litigation
• Manage employment-related claims and litigation globally, including overseeing outside counsel, responding to complaints and settlement demands, and negotiating resolutions
• Assist with preparing, reviewing, and implementing employee training programs
• Support additional legal projects and initiatives as needed

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in UK employment and labor law, with exposure to additional EMEA or international jurisdictions, and a commitment to practical, business-oriented legal counsel. Specifically, we are seeking:

• Qualified legal professional with 6 or more years of post-qualification experience advising on employment and labor matters at a law firm or in-house legal department
• Deep knowledge of UK employment and labor laws, with exposure to additional EMEA jurisdictions or India preferred
• Prior in-house legal experience strongly preferred
• Experience advising on employment and labor issues in the technology, entertainment, or content production industries preferred
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines across stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and functions
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proactive approach to identifying and suggesting process improvements
• Ability to work independently with an entrepreneurial mindset
• Curiosity and adaptability around AI-enabled tools and workflow automation is valued—our client embraces technology to amplify legal work
