Engineering Manager – Observability | UK | Remote

Responsibilities

We are representing a well-funded observability SaaS company seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their Ingest team across EMEA and North America. In this role, you will:

• Manage and develop a distributed team of backend and frontend engineers, providing regular feedback and career development support across multiple time zones
• Collaborate closely with go-to-market teams to ensure customers and prospects successfully implement observability collection solutions
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to integrate Fleet Management, Kubernetes deployment tooling, and instrumentation solutions into the end-to-end user experience
• Guide projects through their complete lifecycle from ideation through planning, execution, and post-launch phases, ensuring high-quality delivery
• Foster a psychologically safe environment that encourages learning, experimentation, and rapid iteration
• Work across team boundaries, contributing to cross-functional projects and partnering with other departments to solve customer problems

What We're Looking For

Our client values diverse experiences and perspectives. The ideal candidate will bring:

• Strong experience in observability (especially OpenTelemetry) or building central control planes that manage distributed collector fleets
• Comfort working with autonomous engineering teams who maintain strong ownership of technical and product decisions
• Technical acumen with current awareness of industry trends to understand and support the challenges your teams face
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across time zones and cultures in a fully remote environment, using clear and empathetic communication to build trust and psychological safety
• Demonstrated ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and elevate team performance to deliver meaningful results
• Deep customer focus, consistently grounding decisions and technical choices in user needs and real-world impact
• Solid understanding of distributed systems principles including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and observability
• Comfort with AI-assisted development tooling and practical experience integrating these tools into team workflows

The position is remote and available to candidates located in Germany, Sweden, Spain, Ireland, or the United Kingdom.

Pay via Get A Job.ai: GBP 103,000 - GBP 129,000, plus equity (RSUs)
