(Senior) Application Software Engineer (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential robotics organization in their search for a talented (Senior) Application Software Engineer based in Munich. Our client is scaling rapidly in the autonomous industrial robotics space, building integrated hardware and software solutions that transform factory automation.

This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge integration challenges, combining software engineering with real-world industrial applications. You'll be instrumental in establishing technical standards and delivering customer-facing automation solutions.

Responsibilities

• Integrate complex peripheral devices and interfaces including cameras, measurement systems, testing equipment, controllers, and ERP systems into automated robot cells for customer deployments
• Develop, test, and maintain software integrations ensuring reliable long-term field operation
• Establish universal integration standards for industrial peripherals to enable seamless ecosystem inclusion and efficient scaling
• Lead projects from initial concept through proof of concept to stable production customer solutions
• Serve as technical point of contact supporting field teams with troubleshooting, both remotely and on-site
• Create comprehensive documentation and how-to guides for technical teams, ensuring knowledge transfer across the organization
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies and external components to optimize both internal and customer requirements

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or comparable qualification
• Excellent knowledge of Python and experience with hardware-level programming in C or C++
• Proven experience integrating and controlling industrial equipment, ideally within automation or robotics environments
• Systems thinking with a hands-on mentality and pragmatic problem-solving approach
• Strong ability to abstract complex technical concepts and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Track record of collaboration in cross-functional teams and comfort operating as an interface between different stakeholders
• Willingness to travel for on-site customer visits and deploy software in real-world production environments
• Passion for efficient, pragmatic solutions and drive to make things genuinely work in the field
