About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential robotics organization at the forefront of industrial automation. Our talent team is searching for a Strategic Finance Manager to join their finance leadership in Munich. This is a senior analytical role reporting directly to the CFO, with ownership of financial modeling, project controlling, and margin analysis across multiple business models including subscription, SaaS, and OEM arrangements.
You will be responsible for building and maintaining the financial infrastructure that supports rapid scaling—from cost modeling and depreciation schedules to revenue recognition across international accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Drive COGS and gross margin analyses across multiple business models (recurring revenue, direct sales, and OEM partnerships); maintain and evolve fleet depreciation and cost models
- Establish project controlling for deployments, implementing full-cost calculations, contribution margin accounting, and post-deployment financial reconciliation
- Ensure accurate valuation of work-in-progress and inventory in collaboration with Accounting, including quarterly target-vs-actual reconciliations, loss-free valuation, and provisions for onerous contracts
- Partner systematically with technical program managers to track project progress, billing readiness, scope changes, and remaining cost estimates across financial years
- Prepare quarterly Board reporting materials focusing on total contract value, revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and cash burn
- Advance financial models across multiple scenario analyses for executive decision-making
- Lead the transition from performance obligations to revenue, forecasting across customer segments, and restructuring quarterly reporting with clear reconciliations between HGB, IFRS, and US GAAP
- Partner with Sales, Deal Desk, Operations, Supply Chain, and Accounting to align deal structures and material usage into consistent financial models
- Support annual financial statements and forecast cycles alongside the CFO, external advisors, and auditors, serving as a strategic partner on deal economics and revenue recognition
What We're Looking For
- Completed vocational training or degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or comparable experience
- Several years of experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Corporate Finance, or Controlling, ideally within a fast-paced scale-up or manufacturing/engineering environment
- Deep technical expertise in full-cost accounting, project controlling, WIP valuation, provisions for loss-making contracts, and advanced Excel modeling (depreciation schedules, cash flow, WIP forecasts)
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (HGB, IFRS, US GAAP) and revenue recognition in project-based businesses
- Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Odoo or Xentral is a plus
- Strong ownership mindset with a pragmatic, self-driven working style and high integrity as a strategic partner to leadership
- Ability to thrive with minimal onboarding in a dynamic, fast-changing environment
- Fluent German required (C1+ level); very good English skills
