Software Engineer Working Student (m/f/d)

This working student position offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience building enterprise-grade distributed systems while maintaining flexibility around your academic schedule.

We're seeking a motivated Computer Science student to join their engineering team in Karlsruhe, working on meaningful features across their platform with mentorship from experienced developers.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to feature development across the platform, from initial problem analysis through implementation and testing, with guidance from senior team members
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions to understand best practices for maintaining code quality
• Work on various components including Public APIs, IAM & Permissions, Secrets Management, CI integrations, Web IDE, deployment systems, monitoring, and managed services
• Develop your engineering skills through hands-on work, pair programming sessions, and regular feedback cycles
• Collaborate with the team on distributed systems challenges in a cloud-native environment

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled in a Computer Science or related degree program
• Genuine passion for technology with solid Computer Science fundamentals
• Hands-on programming experience through coursework, personal projects, internships, or open-source contributions—ideally touching web applications or distributed systems
• Working knowledge of TypeScript and/or Go
• Basic understanding of SQL databases
• Interest in APIs, microservices, and distributed systems architectures
• Professional proficiency in English
• Strong communication skills, openness to feedback, and structured problem-solving approach
• Located in or able to work from Karlsruhe

Bonus qualifications:

• Exposure to cloud infrastructure or cloud-native technologies
• Familiarity with React and/or Kubernetes
