Software Engineer – AI

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded construction technology company in Berlin that is transforming how the industry handles complex, unstructured data through AI. Our client works with major European construction enterprises processing over €40 billion in combined annual construction volume. They've recently closed an €8 million seed round and are experiencing rapid growth, processing more than 1 million pages monthly with 10x growth expected in the next six months.

This is a rare opportunity to join a 15-person team of technical ex-founders tackling some of the hardest problems in applied AI, from multi-modal document ingestion to agentic workflows and construction-specific entity resolution.

Responsibilities

• Build and own end-to-end AI features from concept to production, including database schema design, LLM optimization, and user interface implementation
• Design and ship customer-facing features such as document versioning, agentic chat interfaces, and workflow automation tools
• Manage evaluations, scoring, and error analysis for AI features both in development and production
• Contribute to workflow infrastructure and evaluation tooling to accelerate new use case deployment
• Build reusable human review and approval interfaces where trust in AI output is critical
• Work on construction ontology and project graph modeling, including canonical entity management
• Develop entity resolution capabilities across multiple data sources including contracts, drawings, and bills of quantities
• Extend multi-modal ingestion pipelines for PDFs, scans, drawings, and 3D models at scale
• Build integrations with customer systems including document management and ERP platforms

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer in a fast-paced environment
• Proven experience delivering production-grade applied AI features to customers
• Strong full-stack capabilities with TypeScript, Python, and modern web frameworks
• Experience with LLM evaluation, prompt engineering, and observability tooling
• Ability to take full ownership of solving customer problems from design through implementation
• Thrives in small, accountable teams with high degrees of ownership
• Fluent in both spoken and written English
• Comfortable working onsite in Berlin every day
• Bonus: previous startup founding experience, active side projects, or German language skills

Pay

This role offers equity participation of 0.05% – 0.2% in addition to base compensation. The client's stated salary range is €80,000 – €140,000.
