About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential AWS modernization consultancy that delivers data platform migrations and consolidation projects at production scale. Our talent team is seeking an AWS Data Engineer at the associate level to join their Data Platform Modernization practice.
This role focuses on building reliable data pipelines and products for clients migrating legacy data infrastructure to AWS. You'll work directly with business stakeholders, analysts, and data scientists to deliver systems that answer real business questions—pipelines that ship to production in weeks, not quarters. The environment is forward-deployed: you'll embed with client teams, own delivery outcomes, and learn from senior engineers who carry cutover commitments personally.
Because the firm uses an agent platform to automate discovery, schema mapping, and validation work, you'll spend your time writing production code and developing engineering judgment rather than auditing spreadsheets. Data quality is the product, and shipping is the expectation.
Responsibilities
- Write efficient PySpark and Amazon Glue code that reaches production environments
- Develop SQL queries and workflows in Amazon Athena and Amazon Redshift
- Learn and apply new AWS data technologies to solve client business problems
- Collaborate across engineering and business teams to build data products people use
- Deliver projects on schedule and communicate progress directly to customers
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience with Apache Spark, PySpark, and Amazon Glue
- 2+ years writing ETL jobs using PySpark and SparkSQL
- 2+ years working with SQL queries and stored procedures
- Deep understanding of the Dataframe API and transformation functions in Spark 2.7 or later
- Located in the USA
Preferred:
- Experience with AWS EMR or Apache Airflow
- Certifications: AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty, Cloudera Certified Big Data Engineer, or Hortonworks Certified Big Data Engineer
- Familiarity with DataOps engineering practices
