IT-Security Engineer (gn)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential insurance organization in Northern Germany seeking an IT Security Engineer for a permanent position. In this role, you will take ownership of security operations and the protection of sensitive information in a dynamic environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and operating the SOC/SIEM infrastructure, connecting new systems, reviewing automated threat detection, and adapting rules to current threat landscapes
• Advancing vulnerability management capabilities by integrating new systems, evaluating scan results, and supporting remediation efforts
• Actively monitoring IT security through analysis of security information, scan results, and security appliance alerts for early risk mitigation
• Investigating security incidents, conducting analysis, recommending countermeasures, and coordinating implementation with internal and external teams
• Organizing and executing external penetration tests, including planning, coordination, technical evaluation of results, and supporting remediation activities
• Conducting internal penetration tests, evaluating findings, and assisting teams with implementing derived security measures

What We're Looking For

• Completed technical degree in Computer Science, IT Security, or Business Informatics
• Solid professional experience in IT security, ideally within the insurance industry
• Several years of experience in IT operations or software development with a focus on IT security solutions
• Deep understanding of security topics and hands-on experience with modern system components such as cloud technologies, OpenShift, or containerization
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style with strong initiative
• Excellent communication skills and team orientation for working across multiple disciplines
