Senior Finanzbuchhalter (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

Our client, a growing organization in Berlin, is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across multiple entities. In this role, you will take ownership of core accounting processes and serve as a trusted resource for the finance team and cross-functional departments.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Managing day-to-day financial accounting operations for multiple legal entities, ensuring all transactions are recorded completely, accurately, and on schedule
• Preparing monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with German commercial law (HGB)
• Overseeing accounts payable and receivable functions, including account reconciliation and process quality control
• Coordinating payment processing, bank communications, and third-party vendor relationships
• Processing and reviewing travel expense and corporate card transactions in compliance with internal policies and legal requirements
• Maintaining and reconciling fixed asset and inventory records with complete documentation
• Supporting auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders by providing requested documentation and information
• Identifying optimization opportunities and contributing to the standardization of accounting, closing, and reporting processes
• Providing technical guidance to colleagues and fostering efficient team collaboration

What We're Looking For

We are representing our client in the search for an experienced accounting professional with the following qualifications:

• Minimum five years of relevant experience in financial accounting, with demonstrated ability to independently prepare monthly and annual financial statements
• Completed commercial apprenticeship, degree in finance/accounting, or comparable qualification
• Strong knowledge of German accounting principles and financial statement preparation
• Proficiency with DATEV accounting software and digital accounting workflows
• Highly organized, detail-oriented work style with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently
• Solution-oriented approach to resolving discrepancies and developing pragmatic, technically sound solutions
• Strong team player with clear, professional communication skills for internal and external stakeholders
• Fluent German language skills (written and spoken) required; English proficiency is beneficial but not mandatory
• Certification as Bilanzbuchhalter or Steuerfachwirt is welcome but not required for this position
