Senior Engineer, Accounting Infrastructure and Systems

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential global marketplace organization seeking a Senior Engineer to take technical ownership of their accounting infrastructure and systems. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services, data pipelines, and integrations that power financial reporting, reconciliation, and close workflows at enterprise scale.

You will partner directly with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into reliable, auditable, and automated systems. This position offers the opportunity to drive measurable improvements in data accuracy, pipeline reliability, and system performance within a compliance-critical environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Taking technical ownership of critical accounting infrastructure projects, designing backend services and data pipelines that support financial operations
• Building integrations that ensure accuracy, auditability, and compliance across financial workflows
• Shaping the team's architecture and engineering best practices while mentoring junior engineers
• Raising the technical bar across the organization through code quality, documentation, and knowledge sharing
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions in a fast-paced environment

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking a candidate with deep technical expertise who can navigate the intersection of engineering and finance effectively. The ideal professional brings:

• 5+ years of experience in software or data engineering, with a strong track record of owning and delivering complex backend or data infrastructure projects
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and data engineering, with hands-on experience in tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, or similar modern data stack technologies
• Understanding of financial concepts including revenue recognition, reconciliation, and auditability sufficient to build systems meeting those requirements
• A collaborative, low-ego approach with the ability to partner effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, and Engineering
• Familiarity with SOX controls, data quality frameworks, or financial systems (such as NetSuite) is a strong plus
