Staff Product Designer (12-Month FTC)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential marketplace technology client seeking a Staff Product Designer for a 12-month fixed-term contract in London. In this senior role, you will define design strategy for complex, high-impact product areas and drive platform-wide improvements that influence millions of users.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Defining product design strategy for ambiguous business challenges, ensuring alignment between user needs and long-term commercial goals
• Partnering with Product and Engineering leadership to drive architectural decisions and platform-wide design standards
• Championing design excellence by mentoring senior designers and fostering high-quality craft across the organisation
• Identifying and tackling systemic design opportunities that improve performance, accessibility, and user satisfaction at scale
• Acting as a bridge between functions, using influence to align cross-functional teams around a unified product vision
• Contributing to a global design community and setting standards for design excellence

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience leading complex design initiatives from conception to launch within large-scale, high-growth environments
• Proven ability to define and drive design strategy, successfully managing multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
• Demonstrated track record of mentoring designers and elevating the quality of work within high-performing teams
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex design visions and influence senior leadership
• Deep technical fluency and strategic understanding of how design influences engineering constraints and product outcomes
• Experience working on three-sided marketplace or complex platform products is highly valued
