Design Manager or Senior Design Manager – Norway (Stargate Norway – Narvik)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential data centre infrastructure client in their search for a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager to be based on-site in Narvik, Norway. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing organization building next-generation facilities designed to support high-performance computing and AI workloads across Europe.

Our client is developing sovereign technology infrastructure powered by sustainable, purpose-built facilities. This role sits at the intersection of design leadership, technical delivery, and cross-functional collaboration—overseeing the design process from concept through construction for mission-critical infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of data centre and infrastructure design—from concept development through construction drawings—ensuring designs support dense compute requirements, low-latency workloads, and high-efficiency operations
• Review design packages for code compliance, constructability, and performance; identify risks early and implement design changes to maintain project trajectory
• Collaborate closely with construction, cost management, engineering, and in-country delivery teams to align design with business objectives and project needs
• Coordinate permitting processes with local consultants and regulatory authorities
• Design and adapt facilities to accommodate advanced compute clusters, high-power electrical infrastructure, and liquid cooling solutions
• Manage consultant teams and internal alignment, ensuring cohesive, accurate, and high-quality design deliverables that meet technical and operational standards
• Maintain project schedules, deliverable tracking, and clear documentation workflows using BIM and cloud-based collaboration tools
• Contribute to the creation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of design documentation, technical standards, and specifications

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a design manager, preferably in data centre, mission-critical, or high-performance computing projects
• Deep technical knowledge of MEP systems, high-density power distribution, and infrastructure suited for AI compute environments
• Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work across teams and time zones in remote and hybrid models
• Fluency in English is required; Norwegian is strongly preferred; additional European languages are an advantage
• Proficiency with Procore/EDMS systems, Revit, Navisworks, and BIM-based workflows
• Startup mentality—flexible, proactive, and ready to help build systems, culture, and scale in a fast-moving environment
• Familiarity with modern AI compute architecture is a strong advantage
