Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization building a sovereign, self-hosted cloud platform in German data centers. This is a green-field project delivering dedicated Kubernetes environments to enterprise clients in highly regulated sectors.
As Cloud Platform Engineer, you will shape the technical foundation of this platform:
- Design and build multi-cluster Kubernetes infrastructure with full operational control—no hyperscaler dependencies
- Architect high-availability cluster configurations including networking, storage, load balancing, and authentication
- Develop and evolve the tenant isolation model, ensuring dedicated customer environments with robust lifecycle management
- Collaborate with development teams on performance and availability requirements for cluster and tenant architectures
- Advance high-availability concepts including distributed in-memory approaches for real-time application capability
- Implement GitOps workflows using ArgoCD and Fleet for fully automated deployment and day-2 operations
- Build Infrastructure as Code using Ansible, Terraform, or comparable tools; implement policy-as-code for security and governance
- Integrate CI/CD pipelines and standardize deployment processes
- Enable platform self-service capabilities for internal development teams through standards definition and onboarding support
- Support development teams migrating workloads to the cloud platform
- Drive continuous improvement of stability, security, and performance based on monitoring data and incident insights
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- Multiple years of experience in cloud or platform engineering, container technologies, or infrastructure automation
- Strong Kubernetes expertise, ideally from operating production multi-cluster environments
- Hands-on experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD or Fleet preferred) and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, or similar)
- German language proficiency at C1 level or higher, plus strong English written and spoken
- Willingness to travel for client meetings and to additional office locations
Preferred experience:
- SUSE stack or comparable Kubernetes management platforms
- DevSecOps practices, policy-as-code, or high-availability design patterns
- Monitoring stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana
Personal attributes:
- Systems-thinking approach with focus on holistic solutions rather than isolated tickets
- Confident communication style, comfortable engaging with both development teams and clients
- Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style
- Experience coordinating initiatives across team and client boundaries
