Senior Data & AI manager – New Business Models

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential retail organization seeking a Senior Data & AI Manager for their New Business Models division. This role will be based in Paris or Villeneuve-d'Ascq (Lille area) and reports directly to the Domain Director.

As the Data & AI Leader for emerging business initiatives including circularity, wholesale, resale, marketplaces, and franchise operations, you will lead a talented team of data professionals while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and delivering high-impact solutions.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Leading data team culture and performance excellence
• Driving data and AI strategy and innovation initiatives
• Directing solution delivery and technical excellence within a product-oriented organization, collaborating closely with Engineering, Product, and Design leaders
• Maintaining data governance and AI ethics, ensuring alignment across the broader omnichannel organization
• Managing stakeholder relationships and translating technical concepts into compelling narratives
• Developing, enriching, and supporting data team members through recruitment, onboarding, and continuous professional development

Team Management & People Development:

• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and career development initiatives
• Manage both team leads and individual contributors
• Foster a positive, inclusive team culture promoting collaboration and continuous learning
• Manage budget constraints while maintaining team morale and engagement
• Provide ongoing support and coaching to help team members thrive and develop new skills

Data & AI Product Delivery:

• Collaborate with Product Managers and business stakeholders to define and prioritize product features
• Ensure technical feasibility and manage the data solutions catalog
• Deliver robust, scalable Data & AI products from MVP to industrialized solutions, ensuring operational maintenance and monitoring
• Define KPIs and track the impact of Data & AI products

Data Leadership:

• Define and drive the data strategy, creating a roadmap aligned with business objectives
• Influence business decisions by promoting data-driven decision-making and challenging the status quo
• Actively contribute to the global data strategy, fostering synergies and knowledge sharing across the data community

Cross-functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with engineering, product, and business teams to develop data-driven solutions
• Collaborate with specialist teams and other domains to advance data initiatives
• Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure successful project delivery

What We're Looking For

Technical Skills:

• Strong foundation in data analysis, machine learning, and business intelligence
• Project management expertise: ability to define project scope, establish timelines, and manage resources
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data visualization tools such as Tableau
• Understanding of machine learning and generative AI development, including performance metrics
• Experience managing senior stakeholder expectations and fostering effective collaboration

Leadership & Soft Skills:

• Proven leadership ability to inspire and guide teams while aligning them with company objectives
• Exceptional communication skills: ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse, cross-functional teams
• Empathy: understanding team needs and fostering a supportive work environment
• Results-oriented mindset with focus on achieving measurable outcomes
• Demonstrated expertise in managing, developing, and motivating teams

Language: Fluency in French and English required for this role.
