Sr. Software Engineer, Cloud Platform

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential IoT platform organization that is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Cloud Platform team in London. This is an opportunity to work on critical infrastructure that powers connected operations at massive scale across multiple industries.

Our client operates a multi-account, multi-region AWS environment serving enterprise customers worldwide. As a Senior Engineer in their Infrastructure organization, you will help evolve the cloud foundations behind their product suite, focusing on reducing systemic production risk while enabling continued growth.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reliable cloud platforms with deep expertise in compute, networking, storage, stateful systems, or infrastructure control planes
• Improve scalability, capacity management, isolation, recovery, and cost efficiency of critical production infrastructure
• Build standardized infrastructure-as-code workflows and reusable automation supporting self-service provisioning, testing, progressive rollout, and rollback
• Identify shared failure modes and build safeguards that prevent localized failures from escalating into broad customer impact
• Contribute to multi-account, multi-region AWS architectures, including regulated environments such as GovCloud
• Participate in operational ownership and incident response, using incidents to drive durable architectural improvements
• Mentor engineers and establish infrastructure design patterns that can be adopted across the organization
• Communicate architecture, trade-offs, risks, and migration plans to technical and organizational stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience designing and building software, infrastructure, or distributed systems with production operations experience
• Deep expertise in at least one area: compute and workload orchestration, networking, storage and stateful systems, or cloud infrastructure control planes
• Strong software engineering fundamentals in Go, Python, Java, or similar language
• Hands-on experience designing and operating infrastructure on a major public cloud platform (AWS preferred)
• Experience using infrastructure as code such as Terraform to safely manage production infrastructure
• Strong understanding of capacity management, failure domains, observability, rollout safety, and production recovery
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives across teams through ambiguous problem spaces
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Experience:

• Designing and operating large-scale compute or container platforms (ECS, EKS, Kubernetes)
• Operating stateful distributed systems such as Kafka, OpenSearch, managed databases, or large-scale storage platforms
• Building internal infrastructure platforms or control planes adopted across multiple teams
• Designing multi-account or multi-region cloud architectures with strong workload isolation and disaster recovery
• Leading major infrastructure migrations while maintaining availability and controlling operational risk
• Delivering measurable improvements in infrastructure capacity, cost efficiency, or developer self-service
