Senior Cloud Ops Engineer (AWS/GCP)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential retail technology organization seeking a Senior Cloud Ops Engineer to join their cloud platform engineering team. In this role, you will serve as a technical expert and cross-functional reference, working across several key areas:

Cloud Organization & Scalable Architecture

• Manage, secure, and evolve global governance across AWS and GCP multi-cloud environments
• Master cloud organization management including organization policies and deny controls
• Design innovative, resilient, and secure cloud-native architectures integrating DevSecOps best practices
• Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity

Engineering, Tooling & Infrastructure as Code

• Industrialize and deploy large-scale infrastructure using Terraform
• Code and develop applications, APIs, and internal orchestration tools in Python following software engineering best practices
• Design automated solutions and consume serverless-oriented services (Cloud Functions, Lambda)

SRE Culture, Observability & FinOps

• Define, monitor, and manage platform reliability indicators: SLO, SLI, and MTTR
• Follow FinOps practices to optimize financial efficiency and cloud resource utilization
• Perform root cause analysis during major incidents and structure preventive measures

Technical Leadership, Security & Enablement

• Educate teams on cloud best practices, write reference documentation, and train technical teams
• Collaborate closely with SecOps teams on access management, alert handling, and compliance processes
• Mentor team engineers and share technical expertise across communities

What We're Looking For

• Experience: Minimum 5 years working with cloud concepts and managing multi-cloud organizations, with recognized expertise in GCP or AWS
• Required Certification: Professional-level cloud certification (GCP Professional Cloud Architect or AWS Professional Solutions Architect)
• IaC & Development Expertise: Advanced mastery of Terraform, scripting/development (Python, Bash), and serverless architectures
• SRE & DevSecOps Practices: Strong understanding of FinOps, observability (OpenTelemetry, Datadog), and network/security architectures
• Soft Skills & Leadership: Curiosity, teamwork, innovation capacity, excellent interpersonal skills, client/user satisfaction orientation, ability to simplify complex topics
• Languages: Fluent English (C1 level) in both written and spoken communication
• Nice to Have: Knowledge of European/sovereign cloud providers
