About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential applied AI consultancy based in Germany. They work with enterprise clients across industries to deliver scalable cloud platforms, data infrastructure, and AI-driven solutions. We're seeking a Cloud Engineer to join their growing technical team and help architect the foundations that power digital transformation projects.

This is a client-facing role combining hands-on infrastructure engineering with strategic cloud architecture. You'll design and deploy production cloud environments, enable AI and event-driven systems at scale, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement core cloud infrastructure, platforms, and services across AWS, Azure, or GCP that enable scalable products and digital transformations
  • Build and evolve CI/CD pipelines, serverless architectures, networking, security, and infrastructure that supports ML/AI workloads at scale
  • Develop high-quality, reusable infrastructure as code using Terraform, Python, and modern cloud tooling to automate environments and deployments
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, AI specialists, and business transformation leaders as a technical peer to deliver production-ready platforms
  • Translate technical architecture into clear business value for stakeholders, explaining why design decisions matter
  • Contribute to internal cloud automation development and continuous improvement of engineering practices

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in consulting, strategy, or data/AI-driven environments with a focus on cloud technology and infrastructure delivery
  • Production experience building and scaling cloud platforms on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
  • Strong development skills with Git as standard practice and a commitment to writing maintainable, high-quality code
  • Hands-on expertise with infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud automation
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities that bridge business requirements and technical execution
  • Ownership mindset with the confidence to dive into new cloud technologies and tackle complex technical challenges
  • Strong academic background (STEM field preferred)
  • Fluency in both English and German (written and spoken)
  • Willingness to travel regularly to client sites throughout Germany and occasionally across Europe
  • Collaborative spirit with curiosity for continuous learning and contributing to an inclusive team environment

Location: Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Most projects require working onsite at client locations for several days per week. The role supports a distributed team structure, so relocation is not required, though being within reasonable travel distance of Heidelberg is advantageous.
