About This Opportunity
We are representing a high-growth SaaS client in the financial planning and performance analytics space. They are building out a solver-driven optimization capability to move their enterprise customers from descriptive planning to prescriptive, AI-powered decision-making. This is a rare opportunity to own the technical delivery of their optimization pilot program and establish the foundations for a production-grade capability that will serve global industry leaders.
As an Optimization AI Scientist, you will be partially customer-facing—leading the formulation of client optimization problems and working directly on implementations. This role sits at the intersection of applied mathematics, software engineering, and strategic business impact.
Location: London or Paris (hybrid)
Responsibilities
- Formulate supply chain and operational optimization problems as rigorous mathematical models, including objective functions, costs, penalties, and constraints
- Configure and run optimization models for customer pilots and implementations, supporting delivery teams in presenting results and strategic recommendations
- Build and execute Python-based optimization models using third-party solvers across varying dataset scales
- Benchmark solver performance and results across multiple use cases and industries
- Collaborate with engineering and data science leadership to define the roadmap for production-grade solver integration within the platform architecture
- Engage technically with solver vendor teams during partnership evaluation and selection processes
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrable experience formulating and solving optimization problems for real-world operational use cases
- Proficiency in Python with hands-on experience using a major solver library such as Gurobi, OR-Tools, CPLEX, HiGHS, or equivalent
- Experience working with supply chain and operations data: SKUs, bills of materials, capacity constraints, service levels, lead times, inventory targets, and similar constructs
- Strong understanding of core operations research techniques including branch-and-bound, LP relaxation, constraint programming, and sensitivity analysis
- Degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (MS or PhD is advantageous)
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business stakeholders
