General Manager, League of Legends

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential esports organization seeking a General Manager to lead their League of Legends division through an exciting rebuild phase. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will shape the roster, staff, and competitive environment for one of the most established teams in the ecosystem. You will report to senior gaming leadership and own end-to-end sporting performance.

Responsibilities

• Own sporting performance and results delivery, building a team capable of sustained competitive success
• Lead recruitment and selection of professional players, coaches, and performance staff; execute roster changes including benching and transfers as needed
• Establish a high-performance culture by defining team values, expectations, and standards alongside coaching staff
• Manage team performance and behavior, implementing recognition and disciplinary measures to uphold standards
• Create an elite training environment through practice design, facility management, scheduling, and operational excellence
• Build a team culture that attracts and retains top-tier players and staff through exceptional player care and experience
• Develop clear team structures and processes in collaboration with senior esports management
• Manage the division budget, allocating resources to balance competitive success with revenue-generating activities
• Oversee player contracts and obligations, ensuring delivery toward organizational, publisher, and partner commitments
• Champion data-driven approaches across recruitment, performance evaluation, and strategic decision-making
• Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders including game publishers, tournament organizers, teams, and player representatives
• Serve as an ambassador through media interviews, content production, community engagement, and fan events
• Integrate brand, content, and partnership strategies with player access and insights
• Lead ad-hoc sporting projects as assigned

What We're Looking For

• Leadership experience within professional gaming or traditional sports with genuine accountability for competitive results
• Deep passion for esports and strong understanding of the League of Legends competitive scene
• Competitive instinct and knowledge of what it takes to win at the highest level
• People management experience, including managing coaches and world-class athletes
• Ability to inspire and support professional gamers, with readiness to go above and beyond for player needs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with confidence representing the organization publicly
• Commercial literacy including budget management and business case development
• Proven ability to work effectively with talent from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Excellent written and verbal English; additional languages are a plus
• Based in Berlin or willing to relocate
