About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential financial services consulting organization seeking a Business Unit Leader for their Banking division in Karlsruhe. This is a senior leadership role where you will take full entrepreneurial responsibility for a specialized business unit serving banks and payment service providers. You'll combine strategic thinking, team leadership, and sales ownership while working directly with clients at the management level to drive sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Banking business unit with a team of 5-10 professionals, holding full P&L responsibility for revenue, profitability, growth, and strategic goal achievement
• Develop sustainable growth strategies, strengthen market position, and identify new projects, business areas, trends, and market opportunities in the banking and payment sectors
• Manage key accounts and develop cross-selling and upselling potential with existing clients
• Build and maintain long-term partnerships at management level with banking clients
• Own the complete sales cycle from opportunity identification through proposal development to contract closure
• Ensure market visibility through networking, client events, thought leadership content, strategic partnerships, and industry contacts
• Guarantee efficient and client-focused service delivery across all engagements
• Participate actively in IT projects from conception through successful implementation
• Lead, motivate, and develop IT project managers and consultants within your unit
• Foster accountability and expertise development while strategically recruiting new talent

What We're Looking For

• Successfully completed degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Business Informatics, Business Mathematics, or comparable qualification
• Minimum five years of experience in direct people leadership and team management
• Proven track record in B2B sales with demonstrated ability to build and sustainably develop client relationships
• Strong entrepreneurial mindset combined with confident, persuasive presence and willingness to take full ownership of business unit development
• Broad network within the payment and banking industry strongly preferred
• Fluent communication skills in both German and English
• Flexibility to work where needed—directly at client sites, at office locations in Karlsruhe, or remotely as required
• Deep understanding of banking and payment market requirements and trends

Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position offering an attractive compensation package, 30+2 vacation days per year (increasing with tenure), and comprehensive benefits including meal vouchers, bike leasing, and company pension scheme.
