Senior Compliance Specialist

Responsibilities

We are representing a fast-growing technology organization seeking a Senior Compliance Specialist to own employment and statutory compliance across EMEA markets, with primary focus on France, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Ireland, and the UK. This is a hands-on individual contributor role where you will serve as the regional subject matter expert on people compliance.

You will partner closely with People Operations, Legal, and regional stakeholders to build and maintain compliant processes. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining ongoing compliance with employment laws and regulations across multiple EMEA jurisdictions, tracking regulatory updates
• Overseeing employment contract compliance and workplace health and safety standards
• Managing accommodation requests end-to-end and resolving compliance questions in partnership with Legal
• Owning statutory medical compliance requirements and disability hiring obligations, including government reporting
• Leading work rule updates, Works Council coordination (France and Netherlands), and related reporting
• Tracking mandatory training compliance and ensuring timely submission of required government reports
• Designing and maintaining People policies and procedures that reflect current employment law (leave entitlements, termination and redundancy rules, working hours, etc.)
• Building and maintaining a regional compliance calendar and audit cadence
• Leading or supporting internal and external audits and managing regulator inquiries
• Contributing to scalable compliance processes and coordinating with global counterparts to share best practices

What We're Looking For

Our client needs a compliance professional with strong EMEA experience who thrives in operational, detail-oriented work:

• 5+ years of experience in People Operations, HR compliance, or employment administration in an EMEA regional role
• AI-savvy with genuine interest in applying AI tools to streamline compliance processes and drive efficiency in high-volume work
• Detail-oriented and comfortable navigating complex, multi-jurisdiction regulatory requirements
• Organized and reliable with ability to manage recurring compliance tasks and deadlines independently
• Self-starter with solid business acumen and sound judgment; able to distinguish material compliance risk from lower-priority gaps and communicate effectively to stakeholders at all levels
• Collaborative partner with clear communication skills across cross-functional teams (People Operations, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, Security)
• Experience building or running compliance calendars, risk registers, or audit programs
• Fluency in English required; additional European languages are a strong plus
