Backend Software Engineer – AI Finance Agent

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization expanding their AI-powered financial services platform across Asia-Pacific markets. Our talent team is searching for a Backend Software Engineer to build core systems supporting insurance, payments, savings, and investing products serving millions of users.

This is a hybrid role based in Taiwan, requiring at least 3 days per week in the office. Strong English communication is essential for cross-functional collaboration with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services, APIs and workflows for consumer financial applications
• Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications and operations
• Support products across insurance, payments, digital wallet, savings, investing, travel and financial services
• Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers and third-party partners
• Collaborate with product and mobile teams to deliver customer-facing journeys
• Improve system reliability, observability, security and performance
• Build systems that are auditable and compliant for regulated financial products
• Take ownership of production issues and long-term system reliability

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging
• Proven experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems
• Solid understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases
• Ability to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality and risk
• Comfortable working across product, mobile, operations and business teams
• Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking or regulated products strongly preferred
• Can build systems that work in real-world production environments
• Thinks through edge cases, failure modes and operational impact
• Takes clear ownership and can articulate individual contributions versus team delivery
