Senior IT Architect (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential public sector technology organization in Germany that is transforming healthcare IT systems. Our client is seeking a Senior IT Architect to lead the technical evolution of solutions serving the statutory health insurance sector. This is a fully remote position based in Germany.

As Senior IT Architect, you will shape the technical future of healthcare platforms, analyzing complex requirements and developing secure, scalable architectures. You'll take ownership of architectural decisions and guide implementation alongside development teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop modern solution architectures for statutory health insurance (GKV) environments
• Define architectural standards and technical guidelines for enterprise systems
• Analyze functional and technical requirements and translate them into future-proof solution designs
• Ensure IT security, data protection, and compliance requirements specific to healthcare
• Provide technical consultation to project teams and stakeholders
• Support technical implementation and resolve complex architectural challenges
• Evaluate and introduce appropriate technologies, frameworks, and architectural approaches
• Identify optimization opportunities in existing system landscapes
• Assess and deploy innovative technologies including AI to advance processes and solutions

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Deep knowledge of modern software architectures and proven experience with Java/JEE-based enterprise applications
• Experience in technical design of complex application systems and integration/interface architectures (REST, SOAP)
• Hands-on experience with cloud and container technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker
• Substantial experience in the German statutory health insurance (GKV) sector with strong understanding of healthcare requirements
• Knowledge of handling sensitive data and regulatory requirements in protected environments
• Excellent German language skills, written and spoken (C2 level)

Preferred:

• Experience with secure coding, API security, or comparable security standards
• Knowledge of UML modeling, requirements engineering, or architectural methods like iSAQB
• Experience with AI solutions in regulated environments, ideally healthcare
