Principal Software Developer (f/m/d) – Market Data

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization in Frankfurt am Main seeking a Principal Software Developer to join their Market Data team. This role sits at the critical intersection of business operations and technical infrastructure, working on sophisticated data pipeline solutions that power financial products for global institutions.

As a senior technical leader, you will architect and implement high-performance data processing systems that demand exceptional accuracy, scalability, and availability. Responsibilities

• Design and implement sophisticated projects to advance data processing pipeline capabilities
• Build and evolve a comprehensive data landscape serving as the single source of truth for critical business data
• Engineer robust ETL processes that handle multi-asset class financial data at scale
• Develop high-performance APIs and streaming solutions for clients and data vendors with low-latency requirements
• Serve as an in-house technical consultant, defining best practices for data tracking, storage, and access patterns
• Collaborate closely with business analysts and data engineers to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Implement resilience and fail-over strategies ensuring maximum system availability
• Mentor development team members on architecture patterns and engineering excellence

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of software development or data engineering experience, with at least 5 years of deep Python expertise
• Strong software engineering foundation: microservice architectures, SOLID principles, design patterns, and dynamic dispatch
• Production database experience with SQL/NoSQL systems (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL), including schema design, evolution, and ORM frameworks like SQLAlchemy, JPA, or Hibernate
• Cloud-native development experience, particularly with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• CI/CD proficiency: ability to define build pipelines, validate deployments, and implement monitoring strategies
• Docker containerization skills following Twelve-Factor App methodology
• Command-line Git proficiency with version control best practices (Gitflow, trunk-based development)
• Proven technical mentoring and leadership capabilities
• Full professional proficiency in English
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and business stakeholders
• Bonus: ability to model business domains using mathematical structures
