About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential client in the construction technology sector, based in Munich. Our client is building a digital platform that transforms supply chain operations for construction companies and their suppliers across the DACH region. This is a hands-on Senior AI Engineer role with a clear growth trajectory toward technical leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead MLOps processes and maintain infrastructure to ensure AI systems remain reliable, scalable, and secure in production
- Design and implement advanced AI features in close collaboration with engineering and product teams, deploying machine learning models and data pipelines
- Improve accuracy, efficiency, and uncertainty estimation of existing AI capabilities through rigorous testing and iteration
- Contribute to the scalability, maintainability, and core functionality of AI solutions while building new features from the ground up
- Align technical work with customer needs and support product and sales discussions with technical expertise
- Help establish engineering standards, tooling, and quality practices across the AI stack
- Mentor and technically guide colleagues as you build your leadership track record
- Leverage modern AI tools such as Claude or Cursor as part of your daily workflow
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5+ years of experience in AI engineering, including end-to-end lifecycle management and MLOps
- Hands-on expertise in natural language processing and image processing
- Strong Python skills and experience with Azure; Terraform experience is a plus
- Passion for generative AI, OCR, and building customer-focused solutions
- Track record of writing clean, well-tested code with production reliability in mind
- Solid understanding of AI agents, tools, and their practical limitations
- Ideally, some experience mentoring or technically guiding others with ambition to grow into a Team Lead role
- Fluent English and German (C1 level or above)
- Willingness to work from the Munich office at least two days per week (hybrid arrangement)
Technical Focus: You'll tackle challenges like extracting structured data from diverse document formats, building uncertainty estimation systems that flag edge cases for human review, and automatically reconciling multi-document workflows within strict legal and compliance requirements. This role demands robustness over benchmark scores—every accuracy improvement directly impacts daily operations.
