Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential rail engineering manufacturer in Oberhausen seeking a Testing Engineer to join their Light Rail Engineering division. In this role, you will:
- Independently conduct component testing on rail products including elastomer-mounted wheels, solid wheels, and elastic components according to specifications
- Perform assembly and disassembly of technical products for testing purposes
- Support technical investigation and analysis of components following operational deployment, test stand trials, or premature failures
- Manage internal and external project tracking and maintain technical communication with external partners
- Develop test specifications, documentation, and comprehensive test reports
- Create CAD designs in SolidWorks for testing fixtures and constructive modifications to enable required component testing
- Coordinate procurement of design elements both internally and externally
- Prepare test setups including strain gauge installation and sensor wiring
- Develop test programs using appropriate testing software
- Program scripts for measurement data evaluation in Matlab, Famos, or Python
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- Completed Mechanical Engineering degree (Diplom-Ingenieur or Master Engineering), preferably specialized in vehicle engineering, rail technology, or design engineering
- Knowledge of static and dynamic component testing methods
- Background in electrical engineering, electronics, or mechatronics with interest in measurement and sensor technology
- Programming skills in Matlab, Famos, or Python
- Very good English language skills, both written and spoken
- Proficiency with standard Office programs and ERP systems
- Strong communication skills and confident presence
- Creative, open, and solution-oriented working style with willingness to explore new approaches and cross-functional methods
- High team collaboration capability and commitment
- Willingness to continuously learn new subject areas and apply acquired knowledge
- Physical capability for demanding physical tasks and working in various positions
- Flexibility regarding working hours
- Willingness to travel, including to destinations outside Europe
