Data Protection & AI Governance Advisor (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Data Protection & AI Governance Advisor in München. In this role, you will:

• Support business functions in documenting data processing activities and maintain records according to GDPR Article 30
• Prepare data protection impact assessments, legitimate interest assessments, and transfer impact assessments
• Advise departments on privacy-compliant design of products and internal processes, focusing on data minimization, access controls, deletion protocols, and privacy by design principles
• Review data processing agreements and conduct preliminary assessments of new service providers and AI tools
• Operate the data protection management system by maintaining policies and templates, conducting controls, monitoring remediation measures, and managing the governance platform
• Build and maintain the inventory of AI systems, prepare classification according to the EU AI Act, and determine organizational roles as provider or deployer
• Participate in the approval process for AI initiatives and develop review criteria, decision gates, and approval templates
• Create mandatory documentation for risk management, data governance, bias testing, technical documentation, human oversight, logging, and transparency obligations
• Review AI models and services for contractual commitments regarding training data usage, data retention, and alignment with customer commitments

What We're Looking For

• Minimum three years of professional experience in data protection, with substantial experience in a second-line function such as data protection coordination, compliance, governance, or external advisory with comparable audit responsibilities
• Proven experience conducting data protection impact assessments, legitimate interest assessments, and transfer impact assessments
• Strong working knowledge of GDPR at the regulatory level, familiarity with EDPB guidelines, and understanding of case law regarding third-country transfers and accountability
• Demonstrable exposure to AI governance and the EU AI Act, such as through classification of AI systems, evaluation of LLM-supported functions, model or bias testing, creation of transparency notices, or contribution to AI policies
• Structured and reliable working style with meticulous attention to documentation
• Professional proficiency in both German and English
• Desirable: Completed law degree and certifications such as IAPP CIPP/E, CIPM, or AIGP
• Must possess valid EU work authorization; visa sponsorship is not available for this position
