About This Opportunity

We are representing a rapidly growing technology company in the consumer goods sector, seeking a Product Engineer to join their development team. This position is based in Hamburg with remote flexibility for exceptional candidates.

In this role, you'll combine deep technical expertise with product thinking to build AI-powered tools and features that deliver real business value. You'll own complete feature lifecycles—from initial scoping through deployment and user adoption—while leveraging modern AI capabilities to build more intelligently and efficiently.

This is a role for builders who prioritize impact: engineers who understand both user needs and underlying business logic, who can define what needs to be built and execute on that vision.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end from concept through production deployment, shipping complete solutions that drive measurable outcomes
• Scope requirements, define technical approaches, and deliver across frontend and backend with quality assurance integrated throughout
• Translate product concepts and stakeholder input into adopted user experiences by understanding business processes and user needs
• Design and integrate AI-powered features into the platform, identifying opportunities where AI can accelerate workflows, enhance decision-making, or enable new capabilities
• Build robust data models and scalable architectures that serve as reliable foundations for product development
• Create reusable building blocks (UI components, data import flows, AI pipelines) to accelerate future development
• Collaborate with stakeholders across all organizational levels to align priorities and drive tool adoption
• Communicate technical concepts clearly and build organizational buy-in for your solutions
• Gather feedback early, iterate rapidly, and continuously improve delivered features
• Stay current with emerging technologies and engineering best practices

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 5–8 years of professional software development experience with demonstrated product mindset
• Strong proficiency with TypeScript and modern React
• Backend experience with Node.js, Express or comparable frameworks, REST APIs, and PostgreSQL with practical SQL skills
• Hands-on experience building AI into products (structured extraction, automation, RAG, or agentic workflows)—not merely using AI coding assistants
• Familiarity with modern AI/ML frameworks and agentic AI systems
• Solid data modeling skills and experience building scalable system architectures
• Strong engineering quality mindset with experience building reliable, maintainable products validated through appropriate testing
• Product sense—understanding of business processes and user perspectives beyond just code
• Strong communication abilities and experience working with stakeholders at all levels
• Proven ability to drive adoption of solutions you build
• Proactive mindset with strong autonomy and initiative in dynamic environments
• Fluent English required; German is a plus
• Comfort operating in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with LLM tooling including provider APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini), agent and tool-use patterns, and evaluating output quality
• Familiarity with vector search technologies (pgvector or similar)
• Hands-on experience with product analytics and observability tools (PostHog, Sentry, etc.)
• Experience integrating ERPs or operational systems (orders, inventory, master data)
• Background in eCommerce, wholesale, or B2B platform environments
• Python for data tooling; Docker, GitHub Actions, AWS experience
