Senior Accountant/ Finance Specialist (m/w/d) – remote

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential education-technology organization seeking a Senior Accountant/Finance Specialist to serve as the central finance point of contact. In this role, you will own the complete operational finance function, build your own processes, and automate where beneficial.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Managing accounts payable and receivable: invoice processing, document review, and payment follow-up
• Overseeing payment transactions and banking operations: daily activities, bank statement reconciliation, and account management
• Processing travel expenses and employee spending through modern tools
• Reconciling revenue streams from app stores and payment platforms with bank receipts
• Serving as the primary liaison with external tax advisors and auditors
• Supporting operational audits and compliance reviews
• Collaborating closely with Sales and other departments on deal coordination, commission calculations, and financial reporting
• Preparing, reviewing, and approving payroll including international payroll systems
• Contributing to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings under HGB standards
• Supporting budgeting and financial planning processes
• Implementing and maintaining the finance system (Scopevisio) and master data
• Continuously improving finance processes and identifying automation opportunities
• Leveraging AI tools to increase efficiency in recurring tasks

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Several years of finance experience, ideally with sole responsibility across multiple disciplines (accounting, payroll, financial closings)
• Mandatory proficiency with DATEV accounting software
• Very strong German language skills and good English proficiency
• Self-directed, proactive working style with true ownership mentality
• Digital and AI-affinity with active use of AI tools for efficiency gains

Advantageous experience:

• Familiarity with Scopevisio, Spendesk, or CRM systems like HubSpot in conjunction with Sales operations
• Background in tech or high-growth environments
• Experience building finance systems and processes from the ground up

This position is initially offered as a one-year contract with strong intention for extension or conversion to permanent employment.
