About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential robotics organization based in Munich that is scaling rapidly from founding team to industrial-stage company. They need their first Head of People & Culture to build the talent infrastructure that will support ambitious growth.
This is a true zero-to-one role. You'll own the entire People function—recruiting, operations, and business partnering—while working directly with executive leadership to shape organizational structure, culture, and systems. Some days you'll source candidates yourself; others you'll design the org chart for next year. Both matter equally here.
Responsibilities
- Build and own end-to-end talent acquisition: workforce planning, sourcing, assessment, candidate experience, executive recruiting, and closing across technical and leadership roles
- Partner with the CEO and department leads on organizational design—structure, leadership roles, succession planning, decision rights, and spans of control
- Design practical performance management systems for goals, feedback, development, promotions, and accountability
- Manage the complete employee lifecycle from first interview through onboarding, growth, and exit processes
- Operate core HR infrastructure: HRIS, payroll, benefits, immigration support, policies, employee relations, and People analytics
- Develop compensation frameworks including leveling, salary bands, equity, promotion standards, and fair compensation reviews
- Guide teams and leadership through structural changes while maintaining trust and retention
- Embed company values into hiring, communication, leadership practices, and recognition—while deliberately expanding talent networks beyond existing circles
- Collaborate on integrating AI into workflows and roles, measuring impact on speed and quality
- Ensure compliance with German and EU employment regulations without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Business, Psychology, HR, or related field
- Substantial HR experience within fast-moving technology companies
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically—setting direction while getting hands-on with candidate closing
- Track record building HR processes that remain flexible for startups yet scale effectively
- Skill in delivering difficult feedback with clarity and respect
- Data-driven approach to HR decision-making and advocacy
- Strong English required; German is a valuable plus
- Bonus: previous experience building an HR function from scratch in a startup, spin-off, or corporate venture
- Bonus: background in robotics, hardware, or deep tech sectors
- Bonus: established network for sourcing engineering or robotics talent
