About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential robotics organization based in Munich that is developing advanced manipulation systems for industrial deployment. This is a product-focused role at a company that has moved beyond research prototypes into commercial launch with active customers.

As a Software Engineer in Robot Control, you will architect and build the software that makes sophisticated robotic hardware reliable, manufacturable, and deployable in real production environments. You will own critical technical decisions across embedded systems, control algorithms, and application software, working directly with the CTO and a cross-functional engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Design modular software architecture spanning embedded, control, and application layers that scales across product variants
  • Develop deterministic firmware for embedded targets including hardware abstraction, sensor/actuator integration, and fault handling under hard real-time constraints
  • Implement control loops for position, torque, force impedance and admittance control, coordinated multi-finger motion, and stable grasp management
  • Build simulation models for control development, regression testing, and sim-to-real validation using platforms like Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or MuJoCo
  • Create customer-facing SDKs and interfaces including ROS 2 integration and fieldbus protocols with proper documentation and version stability
  • Develop data pipelines for tactile, position, and force sensors; build models for slip detection and contact-state estimation
  • Implement security by design and prepare technical documentation for Cyber Resilience Act conformity assessment
  • Build production-grade tooling including CI/CD pipelines, automated regression tests, and diagnostic systems
  • Collaborate with electronics, mechanics, and application teams on specifications and customer integration support

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field
  • 5–10 years of experience building embedded, robotics, or control software, including at least one product that reached series production or product maturity
  • Expert-level modern C++ and Python with deep understanding of real-time behavior, concurrency, and resource constraints
  • Solid hands-on experience with robot control: closed-loop control, state estimation, filtering, motion coordination, force/impedance control
  • Proven ability to architect software for production products, not just research prototypes
  • Experience with simulation-based development workflows
  • Proficiency with Linux, Git, CI/CD, and automated testing
  • Strong hardware mindset: comfortable with system bring-up, debugging on real robots, and using scopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers
  • Fluent English required; German is a plus
  • Bonus: Experience with dexterous manipulation, grasp planning, robotic hands, tactile sensing, or contact-rich manipulation
