Firmware Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential IoT hardware company in the building technology sector. You will own the firmware that runs on deployed embedded devices — from first commit through field rollout. This is a hands-on role with no handoffs when complexity increases.

• Develop and optimize firmware for constrained embedded devices operating autonomously in the field
• Implement and maintain low-power wireless communication stacks
• Design and refine energy-harvesting and low-power optimization strategies
• Build and operate over-the-air update mechanisms for devices already in production
• Create and extend automated hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure
• Own the release process, definition of done, and regulatory compliance (RED/CRA)
• Monitor field performance through dashboards and post-rollout quality metrics

What we're looking for

Must-haves:

• 5+ years of embedded or firmware development experience in C or embedded C
• Hands-on expertise with ARM Cortex-M architecture, bare-metal and/or RTOS
• Proven experience in low-power design and energy efficiency
• Working knowledge of UART, I2C, SPI and hardware debugging tools: JTAG/SWD, logic analyzer, oscilloscope
• Python skills for test automation and data analysis
• Embedded security fundamentals
• Degree in a related engineering field

Nice-to-have:

• Hands-on LoRaWAN experience (SX127x/SX126x, ChirpStack)
• NXP MCUXpresso SDK and toolchain
• Experience with mainstream programming languages such as Python, Go, or others
• Over-the-air update implementation in embedded contexts
• Regulatory background (RED, CRA)
• IoT experience in building technology or the energy sector
