Lead Platform Engineer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to join their growing infrastructure team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead platform engineering initiatives within a fast-paced financial services environment, working primarily with cloud technologies and infrastructure automation.

The role is based in Milton Keynes with flexible hybrid arrangements, offering the chance to shape platform strategy and mentor a talented engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud platforms primarily within Azure environments (GCP experience is desirable)
• Oversee deployment and management of cloud resources using Terraform, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for scalable, consistent, and secure environments
• Lead development and optimization of Azure DevOps pipelines for infrastructure deployments, driving automation and enhancing deployment reliability
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the platform engineering team
• Collaborate cross-functionally with software developers, security teams, and system administrators to integrate platform solutions seamlessly
• Manage and support cloud compute environments, including design, planning, maintenance, and ongoing support
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in platform engineering and cloud platforms
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the infrastructure landscape

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience in platform engineering and design within Azure Cloud environments
• Hands-on expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform
• Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipeline management
• Proven leadership experience leading teams and managing infrastructure projects
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot complex platform and infrastructure issues
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience working in regulated industries, particularly financial services, is advantageous
