We are representing a confidential media planning and communications organization seeking a Strategy Director to join their London team. This senior role offers the opportunity to lead integrated communications planning for a major FMCG client across the EMEA region, driving audience strategy, ecosystem planning, and cross-functional collaboration within a sophisticated planning framework.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of comprehensive audience and communications strategies for multi-market FMCG brands, ensuring alignment with brand objectives and established planning frameworks
• Drive profound audience understanding through proprietary tools, market research, behavioral data, and cultural insights; identify key segments, motivations, and journey touchpoints
• Develop robust communications architectures and ecosystem maps defining channel roles (paid, owned, earned) and content types across the consumer journey
• Oversee content briefing alongside creative teams and ensure timely delivery of planning templates, asset lists, and activation guidelines
• Serve as trusted strategic advisor to clients, presenting complex strategies with clarity and managing the planning process end-to-end
• Collaborate seamlessly with media buying, creative, data sciences, analytics, and specialist teams to ensure strategies translate into measurable execution
• Work closely with channel specialists, including retail and eCommerce teams, to develop integrated omnichannel strategies
• Stay at the forefront of evolving media landscapes, ad-tech, and consumer behavior shifts, proactively integrating new approaches into planning frameworks
• Guide and mentor junior planners, fostering strategic thinking, creativity, and continuous professional development
• Define clear KPIs, establish measurement frameworks, and contribute to post-campaign analysis to optimize future strategies and demonstrate ROI
• Contribute to thought leadership initiatives and new business pitches, bringing strategic vision and innovative planning approaches

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience:

• Progressive experience in media planning, communications planning, or strategic planning roles with multi-market or global clients
• Proven track record developing and leading successful integrated omnichannel communications strategies for major brands across multiple markets, with strong EMEA emphasis
• Demonstrated experience in a leadership role at director level, managing and mentoring strategic planning teams
• Strong background in digital media planning and strategy with solid understanding of traditional media
• Direct experience with Brand Ecosystem Planning (BEP) and Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) frameworks highly desirable

Required Skills:

• Expertise in audience segmentation, consumer journey mapping, and behavioral economics
• Proficiency with media planning and research tools (e.g., Comscore, Nielsen, MRI, GWI)
• Strong analytical skills with ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and compelling narratives
• Exceptional presentation and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Deep understanding of ad-tech ecosystem, programmatic buying, social media platforms, and emerging media channels
• Integration of retail and eCommerce strategies into communications planning
• Strong project management and organizational skills for managing complex processes, timelines, and deliverables
• Highly collaborative with proven ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
