(Senior) Accountant (all genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential e-commerce organization seeking a senior accountant to take ownership of core financial accounting processes while driving digital transformation of finance operations.

In this role, you will:

• Independently maintain and manage the general ledger, including review of automatically generated invoices in the ERP system
• Lead monthly closing processes and contribute to annual financial statements under local GAAP, including timely execution of balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and provisions
• Prepare VAT filings and maintain ongoing coordination with tax authorities and external tax advisors domestically and internationally
• Manage weekly payment runs and cash management activities including foreign currency transactions
• Serve as a technical point of contact for day-to-day accounting questions, perform regular posting controls, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams
• Actively shape, optimize, and implement new internal processes and system functionalities

What We're Looking For

• Completed commercial apprenticeship (such as tax specialist or accounting) or relevant degree with 3–5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in e-commerce
• Strong technical knowledge of German commercial law (HGB) financial reporting and proficiency with ERP systems and Excel
• Experience in direct-to-consumer business and knowledge of cross-border tax matters (e.g., UK, Switzerland, Poland) is advantageous
• Understanding of online retail specifics including payment providers, marketplaces, and shipping cost structures
• Structured, proactive, and meticulous working style combined with analytical thinking
• Strong enthusiasm for automation and digitalization of modern finance processes
• Excellent communication skills to serve as a competent partner for internal stakeholders
• German language skills at C2 level, fluent English (C1), and residence in Berlin or surrounding area
