Our talent team is representing a confidential food manufacturing organization with operations across North America. We are seeking a Director, Engineering to lead manufacturing engineering strategy and capital investment across a network of production facilities. This is a remote role based in the United States, requiring up to 75% travel to plant locations.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute engineering strategy aligned to business objectives across multiple manufacturing sites
• Lead capital planning and execution, including development and management of the 5-year CAPEX plan
• Drive process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost efficiency, productivity, quality, and service
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies for automation, sustainability, and throughput optimization
• Lead projects from ideation through commissioning, including scoping, approvals, design, procurement, construction, and validation
• Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering team while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability
• Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and EHS teams to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
• Provide on-site technical troubleshooting and support to resolve plant-related issues
• Ensure safety—both employee and food safety—remains a priority in all engineering work
• Manage vendor relationships and capital supplier negotiations to optimize cost-benefits

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related field)
• 10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a multi-site environment
• Proven track record in capital planning, execution, and project management
• Demonstrated success building and developing high-performing engineering teams
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to influence at all organizational levels
• Working knowledge of sanitary equipment design, Good Manufacturing Practices, and relevant government regulations (OSHA, EPA, FDA)
• Proficiency in MS 365 and MS Project
• Must reside in AZ, MO, KY, TX, IL, NY, SC, WI, PA, or ND

Preferred:

• Food or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry experience
• Experience with AutoCAD and SAP
• Familiarity with automation, industrial control systems, and IIoT technologies
• Formal project management training or certification

Pay

This is a full-time, remote position offering a competitive compensation package that includes base salary, bonus potential, and comprehensive benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) with match, STD/LTD/AD&D/Life, HSA, FSA, EAP, and additional coverages).
