About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential digital transformation consultancy based in Düsseldorf that works with mid-market and enterprise B2B clients in manufacturing, industrial goods, and wholesale sectors. Our client seeks a Senior Consultant to lead search visibility strategy across traditional SEO and emerging generative AI platforms.

This is a client-facing role where you'll own the full search and content strategy for multiple accounts, working with companies experiencing the shift from classic search to AI-driven research journeys. You'll guide how B2B brands maintain and build visibility as search behavior evolves beyond traditional result pages into ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI modes.

Responsibilities

• Develop integrated search strategies spanning traditional SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO), prioritizing by business impact rather than completeness
• Lead technical SEO across crawling, indexing, Core Web Vitals, JavaScript rendering, log file analysis, internal linking architecture, and site migrations
• Build content and entity architectures aligned to B2B buying journeys, from early awareness through deep research content that language models cite
• Brief content teams and subject matter experts, review against search intent and citation-worthiness, and maintain editorial calendars that remain relevant months ahead
• Establish AI visibility through consistent entity representation (structured data, sameAs properties, Wikidata, industry directories) and citation-worthy content
• Measure AI visibility using prompt-set-based share of voice across major platforms, analyze bot access in log files, and separate referral traffic from generative sources within data constraints
• Conduct SEO and GEO audits, analyze competitive landscape and search intent, and deliver prioritized action plans ready for immediate implementation
• Manage multiple client retainers within agreed hour budgets, lead monthly reporting calls and quarterly reviews, flag scope changes proactively
• Present to management level, serve as strategic partner to marketing and digital leads, provide candid guidance even when findings challenge preferred metrics
• Support new business pitches and proposals with realistic effort estimates and technical input before project kick-off
• Coach colleagues and clients, collaborate closely with content and analytics teams, document setups for knowledge transfer

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years in SEO with genuine project ownership and delivery of sustainable results beyond individual task execution
• Deep technical SEO expertise: ability to audit sites with five-figure URL counts and prioritize findings; proficiency with Search Console including API, Screaming Frog, log files, and major platforms (Sistrix, Semrush, or Ahrefs)
• Content strategy leadership for complex B2B topics including theme architecture, editorial planning, and quality assurance; strong briefing and review skills against search intent and citation standards (writing execution not required)
• Experience with or serious self-directed learning in AI visibility and generative engine optimization; informed perspective on emerging practices in this two-year-old discipline
• Data competence: comfortable reading GA4 and Search Console, working with BigQuery exports, and articulating measurement requirements for analytics team implementation
• Understanding of B2B contexts where buying journeys span nine months with multiple stakeholders, distinct from direct-to-consumer dynamics
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial goods, machinery, or wholesale sectors is advantageous
• Analytical thinking with courage to derive clear recommendations even when inconvenient
• Communication skills to explain entity structures and technical concepts to executive audiences without oversimplification
• Hands-on pragmatism working within client constraints (legacy CMS platforms, extended IT deployment cycles, limited system access); ability to seek necessary team input and proceed independently
• Advanced Excel proficiency
• Fluent German and professional English required

Pay

The client's compensation range for this senior-level position is €60,000 to €75,000 gross annually, encompassing all compensation components. Placement within the range reflects skills, scope of responsibility, and experience. In accordance with EU Pay Transparency Directive 2023/970, compensation is determined by role cluster, level, competencies, and impact—never by previous salary history.
